Hi everyone - I hope this is ok. I have set up a community for Islanders or folks that are interested in PEI. Please feel free to join if that strikes your fancy. :)

Hey, what a great idea for a community!
I just joined and thought that I'd post, just so I didn't seem like some random person. I'm from PEI, though I go to school in Ontario these days where I am constantly teased (and I like to think admired) for my propensity to choose Alexander Keiths and pronounce certain words funny (though I really don't think that I do).
I'm sure that this will be a great outlet when I am back there in the fall. But for now, there are beaches to visit. (If it would stop SNOWING!)

Thanks for the great idea!

Don't you love how it feels like Spring one day, and then the next day it feels like the middle of winter? Arggh. I don't know whether to break out my Spring clothes again, or prepare for a blizzard.

Which that reminds me, btw, that Nova Scotia is supposed to get hit by another MASSIVE snowstorm right before Christmas on Dec 23. Head's up, everyone. As the Boy Scouts say, be prepared!

i know we've probably all seen this before, but... [07 Nov 2004|05:05pm]

You know you're a Maritimer when...

1. Your idea of a traffic jam is ten cars waiting to pass a tractor on the highway.

2. "Vacation" means going to Moncton for the weekend.

3. You measure distance in hours.

4. You know several people who have hit a deer.

5. You often switch from "Heat" to "A/C" in the same day.

6. You use a down filled comforter in the summer.

7. Your Grandparents drive 100 km/hr through 13 feet of snow during a raging blizzard without flinching.

8. You see people wearing hunting clothes at social events.

9. You install security lights on both your house and garage and go and leave both unlocked.

10. You think of the major food groups as: Meat, Fish and Tim Hortons.

11. You carry jumper cables in your car and your wife knows how to use them.

12. There are seven empty cars running in the parking lot of the Canadian Tire store at any given time.

13. You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit.

14. Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow.

15. Your lingerie consists of tube socks and flannel pajamas.

16. You know all 4 seasons: Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter and Construction.

17. It takes three hours to go to the store for one item, even when you're in a hurry because you have to stop and talk to everybody in town.

And Finally: You know you live in the Maritimes when...

18. You actually understand these jokes and forward them to all your friends from the Maritimes.

hey boys and girls;

first of all i just want to welcome everyone to the community. i know that for now it is a little bland and uneventful but i assure you once i get the energy to start spreading the word we will have a lovely bunch of maritimers here in no time.

i have a few things up my sleeve for this community as well. im working on a little survey for everyone to fill out so we can all get aquainted (although i pretty much know everyone here :)

so for the time being sit back and enjoy yourselves. if you have any suggestions you know where to find me.
